Corporate Donations

Companies are encouraged to set up schemes as described previously under the Give As You Earn programme.

Firms might also like to consider:

  • Facilitating sponsorship events by their employees. For morale and team building, why not organise such events as a competition between various departments or office locations, seeing which can come up with the highest figure.

  • Providing facilities and services free of charge (or at reduced rate) to the charity. Duchess of Kent House Charity is currently supported by HSBC bank, BDO LLP (our accountants). Vale & West (our auditors) and Frasers (our stationery suppliers).

  • Seconding personnel for special projects or mentoring

  • Matching employee donations with additional money, either pound - for - pound or by other amounts. Thames Water International, Marks and Spencer, Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclay's Bank have enhanced their employees' donations to us in this way.

  • Providing goods to us for resale, such as greetings cards, plant containers etc.

  • Sponsoring publications we printed by helping with origination, printing and advertising costs.

  • Paying for events such as the out-patients' summer Thames boat trip.

  • For our Light Up A Light service this year we are looking for someone to sponsor the lights themselves and their installation (£1000) and to sponsor the printing of the program and the attendant advertising (£500).

  • Collection boxes are available to companies for their reception areas, rest rooms and canteens - in fact any secure spot on site.

  • Golf Charity Days - so far this year the main one planned is Sandford Springs near Tadley. For the latter we are looking for over 20 teams of 4 @ £ 300 per team to play shotgun start  (lunch included). Firms are encouraged to enter teams and to provide items and services to auction at the evening dinner.

  • Charity of the Year: Companies nominate us as their Charity of the Year and arrange a number of fundraising events to benefit us. Currently Timberland, Clydesdale Bank, Audi of Reading, Frasers of Reading and marsh Insurance are helping us in this way

Corporate Support

HOW CAN YOU HELP? There are many ways in which companies and their employees can help this charity. Most larger organisations have a Corporate Social Responsibility policy actively encouraging employees’ participation, (see also www.csr.gov.uk). Firms might like to consider:

Nominate us as your Charity of the Year (CoY details available on request). Companies sponsoring us will benefit from the local and regional publicity we generate as we have a high profile in Berkshire and the western Thames Valley with an active mailing list of 6000.

Appoint a ‘Charity Champion’ to focus activity.

Facilitating sponsorship events by their employees. For morale and team building, why not organise such events as a competition between various departments or office locations, seeing which can come up with the highest figure.

Providing goods to us for resale, such as greetings cards, toiletries, books etc. Remaindered or end-of-line goods may be a nuisance to you but will have a value to us for selling to the public and our supporters.

Sponsoring events such as the day therapy patients’ River Thames outing.

Help us stage the annual Light Up A Life service in memory of loved ones by sponsoring the lights and their installation and the printing of the program and the attendant advertising.

Collection boxes are available to companies for their reception areas, rest rooms and canteens – in fact any secure spot on site.

Have a Dress Down (or even Dress Up) Day where employees pay a ‘fine’ for not wearing the usual attire. In June we have our Hospice Awareness month where the theme is Yellow. Also in June is T@3. Why not have a staff tea party fundraising event?

We are planning a number of events this year and we are looking for sponsorship and help regarding venues, items to auction, items to sell and raffle, music and food. Can you help? Companies are often surprised at what a difference they can make at their local hospice - call us on 0118 939 4889 to find out more.
