Charity of the Year

Introduction

Companies with an active CSR policy often consider making a longer term commitment to a named charity for a period of one year, particularly where employees have been directly involved or there are clear synergies of interest between the company and charity
Duchess of Kent House (hospice) based in Reading is a full service specialist palliative care unit helping up to 500 patients a year. Although part funded by the NHS, the Charity raises several hundred thousand pounds per year to help maintain essential services at the hospice. Companies associated with us benefit from local & regional publicity we generate as we have a high profile in the Thames Valley and have an active mailing list of over 6000. Companies choosing to partner this charity as their Charity of the Year can help us in so many ways apart from fundraising money.

Getting Involved, Events and Money Raising Ideas

A great way of raising funds for hospice care and also encouraging teamwork and leadership skills is to undertake one of the International Hospice Challenges. These challenges can be tailored to create a “Corporate” Challenge - whereby staff can form a team comprised of UK and worldwide staff. Alternatively individuals may wish to enter a challenge on their own and join an existing team to support their chosen charity
Examples of just a few of the Challenges available include:
