Duchess of Kent House Charity (DoKHC) would like to say a huge thank you to all those who attended and helped organise its second Zumbathon® charity event.  It was held on Saturday, 19 November at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, Lower Earley.

People from all over Berkshire came together to take part in this 2 hour non-stop Zumba® party, while raising money for specialist hospice care services in the area.

Approximately £1000 was raised for the Charity at this Zumbathon®, by a mixture of complete beginners and those who attend regular classes.

Local Zumba® instructors Daniela Capasso (www.zumbahit.com), Leanne McNulty (www.pilatesandfitness.co.uk) , Catherine Short, Annet Bowler, Isabella Nicolaides (www.zumbaclassreadinguk.com) and Lauren Filer (www.vitalitypersonaltraining.vpweb.co.uk)  kept the party going.  To add to the excitement,  belly dancer Shebnem Bamsey (www.bellydancefixation.co.uk) gave a short performance and then lead a training session so all those attending could have a go and enjoy belly dancing.  Those who enjoyed belly dancing could even buy the scarf as dance shop, Dancia International were present selling different kinds of dance wear.

Zumba® is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party taught in gyms and fitness centers to people of all ages, sizes and shapes.

George Solly, Director of Fundraising at DoKHC, said “we held this, the Charity’s second Zumbathon® charity event following a successful launch event in July 2011.  Again the response was fantastic with even more people attending this event and we are looking forward holding another one in the Spring of 2012.”
