Reading & Wokingham Lions

Suzanne Dore (President of Reading Lions Club) Andy Slay (President of Wokingham Lions Club) and Alex Woollard present George Solly of the Duchess of Kent House Charity with a cheque for £1,166.90.

Reading and Wokingham Lions clubs joined forces at the Reading and Wokingham Country Show in August, to run their second "Festival Of Motoring" under the leadership of Alex Woollard who is the "Driving Force" behind this fund raising effort.

120 vehicles attended this year's event which was lower than expected and no doubt a result of the poor summer which hit so many outdoor events this year.

Andy Slay of Wokingham Lions said "We are delighted to have been able to support the Duchess of Kent House Charity again and would like to thank the Wokingham and Reading Agricultural Association together with the people who supported the event which has enabled us to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause. The Hospice serves the Reading, Wokingham, Newbury, and surrounding districts. In addition to funding two beds at the Hospice, the charity pays for a family support service (Bereavement), dietician, psychologist, chaplain, aroma therapist, transport, patient outings and additional equipment for the Hospice."
