A cheque for £3000.00 was presented to George Solly, Director of Fundraising at Duchess of Kent House Charity by Debbie Jex, Immediate Past Provincial Grand Master of the Reading District Oddfellows.
This magnificent sum was the amount collected during Mrs Jex’s year in office as Provincial Grand Master of the District. The money was raised by holding various fundraising events including a very successful race night and by the generosity of members at their monthly meetings.
As 2010 was the Bicentennial Anniversary of The Independent Order of Oddfellows Manchester Unity, a number of special events were also arranged to celebrate 200 years of existence, these included some highly enjoyable Bowls Matches which not only helped greatly with fund raising but also raised the profile of the Oddfellows in the local area.
Mr Solly, said: “We are very grateful to all those involved in raising this money. The funds will go towards the specialist end of life care available at Duchess of Kent House and in the Berkshire West region.”
