Morrisons helps hospice patients this Christmas
This week, Duchess of Kent House Charity (DoKHC) is urging Christmas shoppers at Morrisons to spare some change for their local hospice, which will help provide care for patients suffering from life-shortening diseases.

From 6 to 12 December, charity collections will be held in Morrisons on Rose Kiln Lane, Reading for DoKHC as part of a nine month UK-wide campaign by the supermarket to raise £1 million for hospice care.

Through Morrisons Charity of the Year partnership with Help the Hospices, the leading charity supporting hospice care throughout the UK, every Morrisons store has been twinned with its nearest hospice to raise money that will directly fund hospice services in the local community.

George Solly, Director of Fundraising at DoKHC said: “While many of us are preparing for a traditional family Christmas, we mustn’t forget that there are terminally ill people in our local community who need our help and support.

“As part of our range of care and support services, we provide psychologists, the Family Support and Bereavement Service, the Befriending Service, the dietician, the chaplaincy, and alternative therapies. We can only provide this care thanks to donations from our local community.”

James Morse, Reading Morrisons general manager said: “The majority of hospices are independent charities, and we’re very proud to be working alongside a charity which is so rooted in the community it serves. Morrisons stores across the UK have already raised more than £700,000 for hospice care, so we hope that with the continued generosity of our customers in December, we can reach our target of £1 million.”

To make a difference for this Christmas, head down to your nearest Morrisons store between 6 and 12 December. For more information, visit www.helpthehospices.org.uk
