Duchess of Kent House Charity would like to thank all those involved in organising Mac's Cafe Custom Motorbike and Car show on Sunday 22nd August.
The rain held off on the day, and over 400 people attended the free event which was held near the A4 Bath Road in Padworth. The show had custom cars, bikes, trikes and scooters on display. Fast fuel cars which are normally raced at Santa Pod, the UK is the home of European Drag Racing, were exhibited; as was a Harley Davidson ‘V’ Rod which recently was on display at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Museum in Coningsby. The United Cruisers Club presented American cars, Hot Rods, trucks and dayvans; and there was plenty of food and drink on site at the cafe.
The first prize in the raffle was a 42 inch flat screen TV, donated by Reading’s Grosvenor Motor Company Ltd. The winner donated the prize back to the hospice.
In all, the event raised approximately £1600 towards supporting the specialist palliative care services available at the Duchess of Kent House.
Denis Denmead, one of the organisers said “It’s the first time we’ve held a joint car and bike show and we had no idea how successful it would be. The response was fantastic and we are looking forward holding it again next year.”
