Cllr Gul Khan with George Solly

Last week, former Mayor of Reading, Councillor Gul Khan presented a cheque for £2445.71 to George Solly, Director of Fundraising at Duchess of Kent House Charity. This money was raised for the Charity during Cllr Khan’s mayoralty.

A taxi driver and former bus driver, Cllr Khan, supported the Charity as his late wife Sakina Begum, was cared for at hospice when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.

Mr Solly said ‘“We are very grateful to Cllr Khan for supporting us with his fundraising and strengthening our profile. The money will go towards the specialist end of life care available at Duchess of Kent House and in this half of Berkshire.”
