Pangbourne Dragon Boat Race - 2010
The Annual Dragon Boat Race held in Pangbourne on Saturday 26th June was another tremendous day with the added benefit of a win for the DOKHC boat skippered by Chairman of the Trustees - David Murby. Duchess of Kent House Charity is one of the beneficiaries of this annual event organised by The Rotary Club of Pangbourne which shares proceeds from the day’s event amongst local charities.
Each race, led by their drummer beats out the rhythm for paddling. 16 people paddle a dragon boat along a course of 250 metres, racing against other 11 teams.
For the second year running, Duchess of Kent House sponsored its own Dragon Boat. Local Theale company, Nvidia, and Reading legal firm Field Seymour Parkes entered teams again and both were paddling to raise funds for Duchess of Kent House.
The whole event was exhausting but hugely enjoyable and much will have been raised for the benefitting charities, including us. The great success of the DOKHC boat was matched by the pleasure had by all attendees and participants and the overall funds raised make it one of our major fundraising events of the year. |
