Once again, on a cold but sunny October morning, Duchess of Kent House Charity (DoKHC) welcomed a team of volunteers from Cisco. The group arrived armed with their gardening tools ready to tackle the large flower bed at the front of the Duchess of Kent House.
This is the third group from Cisco that have volunteered for the Charity under the "Cisco Citizen" programme. Cisco’s staff spent the day digging up and sowing plants in order to enhance the unit’s grounds; they have already dealt with two smaller beds at site on Liebenrood Road.
“We are very grateful to Cisco for their support. It enables us to improve the environment of the hospice, not only for the patients but the visitors too”, said George Solly, DoKHC’s Director of Fundraising. "When volunteers undertake a project like this, it frees up funding for other initiatives. In addition Cisco donates money for every hour their staff volunteers for us."
Diane Leigh, Cisco’s European Partner Manager, who helped organised the task, added “It’s great that we have managed to complete the whole project in such a short timescale with three different volunteering teams. At Cisco we are encouraged to give back to the communities where we live and work, and this assignment has been a great example of this.”
Cisco, a leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate, celebrates over 25 years of technology innovation, operational excellence and corporate social responsibility. Information about Cisco can be found at http://www.cisco.com.
