A team of colleagues from Reading Borough Council's Emergency Response Team are joining together to raise money for two local charities by trekking up three of the largest mountains in the UK.
Money raised will go to the Duchess of Kent House Charity & BIBS Babies in Buscot Support.
A number of local businesses are helping in their efforts, 1st Class Cars have loaned the team a minibus, Broad Street Mall have kindly offered to fund the fuel for the trip and Berkshire 4x4 have supplied T-shirts and a driver for the event.
The goal is to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours!
Ben Nevis - Scotland: 1344 metres
Scafell Pike - England: 978 metres
Snowdon - Wales: 1085 metres
The distance walked is around 25 miles, the height climbed is around 10,000 feet, and the distance to be covered between the mountains is some 450 miles.
Steve Fawke, Broad Street Mall Centre Manager said “The Broad Street Mall is proud to once again support such a worthy cause; thanks to all those who organised it and to those who are taking part the very best of luck!”.
Jeremy Smith, Berkshire 4x4 said “Berkshire 4x4 are pleased to be able to support this worthy event and wish the team well in their fundraising challenge”.
